August 2012 Fund & ETF Changes

by noloadfundx on August 1, 2012

Each month, we highlight the changes we’ve made to the NoLoad FundX fund and ETF listings.

We replaced Class 3 PowerShares Dividend Achievers (PFM) with iShares High Dividend Equity Fund (HDV), a similar ETF that is larger and easier to trade. PFM was moved to the online supplement. PFM was recently ranked as a Buy and it would still be a Buy this month. We try to avoid moving funds when they are highly ranked, but this ETF no longer met our criteria for liquidity (see our post about the importance of ETF liquidity).

We also moved PowerShares Fundamental Pure Mid Value (PXMV) to the online supplement because of liquidity concerns. PXMV has been ranked as a sell for the last few months, and it continues to be ranked as a sell this month.

In Class 4, we added Villere Balanced (VILLX). This fund has no redemption fee and is available without transaction fees at Schwab, Fidelity, and Scottrade. We also added Marketfield fund (MFLDX) to Class 4. MFLDX was previously in the online supplement.

Reclassified

  • FBP Appreciation and Income Opportunities (FBPBX) is now available to all investors, so we reclassified it from the online advisor section to the online supplement Class 4.
