On Forbes: A 25 Year Look at Rebalancing

“Perhaps the greatest gift investors can give themselves is a strategy to take the emotion out of important investment decisions and the most time-tested of these strategies is portfolio rebalancing,” Janet Brown writes in her latest post on the Forbes Intelligent Investing blog, Does Portfolio Rebalancing Work?.

Janet’s Forbes post shares our 25-year study of how a rebalanced portfolio of stocks and bonds compared to a portfolio that was never rebalanced. “For the entire 25 year period, the rebalanced portfolio ended with a higher return: a $10,000 investment became $97,000 vs. $89,000 for the un-rebalanced portfolio,” Janet writes.
